Europe/Spain - Paella

This regional dish hails from Valencia in eastern Spain, but it's become so popular it could be considered Spain's national dish.

The term paella is derived from the Valencian word for pan, as the dish is cooked in a shallow pan, which diners then eat from. Ingredients vary, but seafood or chicken are traditionally added to white rice coloured with saffron.
